First ducklings of 2021

It’s hard to tell from the photo because I had to reach into the lavender garden at an odd angle, but the white feathered thing is a mama duck’s butt on a nest. The little yellow things to the left and at the bottom are the first babies of 2021.

Mama duck will probably sit on the nest for another day to see who else hatches. But I bet if you check the chickencam on Saturday or Sunday you’ll see her new brood taking a swim in the plastic trash can lid we use as a baby-safe wading pool.
