A Mandarin Orange Surplus in January

A Mandarin orange tree heavily laden with oranges

The Mandarin orange tree with a bumper crop of oranges in mid-January

I was worried that last winter’s heavy rains knocked most of the blossoms off the Mandarin orange tree so this winter we weren’t going to have that many fruit.

Turns out I was worried for no reason, because the tree is covered in Mandarins this winter.

It might also have something to do with placing the duck’s water dish under the tree. They do a pretty good job of spreading water around along with plenty of duck “fertilizer.”

Good thing the ducks and chickens like oranges almost as much as we humans do. None of these will go to waste.
