The Last Sunset of Spring 2025

Sunset in northern San Diego County on June 19, 2025

The last sunset of spring 2025 was a low key affair.

In keeping with my beginning/end-of-season sunset photos, I captured last night’s—the final one of the spring—just as it dipped over the horizon and into the Pacific Ocean.

The incoming marine layer tamped down on the reflection coming off the ocean so, as sunsets go, it wasn’t the most spectacular. But, as the weather warms, the clouds are receding further out to sea, meaning the “June gloom” is finally coming to an end.

Summer 2025 begins tonight at 7:42 PM my time, so maybe the first sunset of summer will be more exciting than the last one of spring.
