A sunset over the Pacific Ocean in San Diego County on the last day of summer, 2025

Last sunset of summer 2025 over the Pacific Ocean

We spent most of the day with on and off showers from the remnants of tropical storm Mario. But the clouds parted just long enough at sunset to snap this photo. This is from my house about 10 miles inland looking westward toward the Pacific Ocean. The sun’s reflection off the ocean gave us spectacular orange skies.

We’re lucky enough to be about 400 feet above sea level so we could see it. It you look just beyond those palm trees in the center of the photo, you can see all the people down in the San Luis Rey river valley were under a blanket of fog.

Here are a few sunsets from the past.

I like to write about the stuff I build, grow and see here at Sage's Acre.
