We’ve been seeing a lot of praying mantises lately. There was one on the screen door yesterday, I saw several in the veggie garden during the week. And there was one hanging out on the patio table last night.

This morning I was taking out the recycling and spotted this bright green, red accented little guy resting on a plastic trash can liner.

These guys are great pest control, so they’re always welcome. Wikipedia has an interesting post on them.
