French Fried Summer Squash

By Published On: June 26th, 20250.7 min read

You’ve probably seen these served as appetizers in pubs and restaurants, but they’re just as good at home. Super simple to make too!

Ingredients

  • 1 – 2 summer squash or zucchini
  • 2 Tbsp butter or oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1-2 eggs beaten
  • Breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Cut the ends off the squash and slice the squash into french fry-shaped sticks (leave the skin on unless the skin is tough)
  2. Sprinkle squash sticks with salt & pepper and toss in flour to coat
  3. Dip each stick in the egg and roll in breadcrumbs to coat thoroughly
  4. Heat butter or oil in a pan until a droplet of water dances in it
  5. Add coated sticks to butter/oil and fry for approximately 2-3 minutes (until coating starts to brown)
  6. Remove from pan and drain on a paper towel
  7. Serve hot
