When you’re a chicken, this is fancy like Applebee’s

We try not to let anything go to waste around here if we can, so when we’ve got scraps from saucing tomatoes and lettuce that’s going to seed, you can be sure they’re going to find their way back into our gardens.

Tomato skins and bolted lettuce may not be at the top of your list when it comes to lunch, but for the ducks and chickens it’s a five star meal.

The poultry, in turn, will provide us with eggs and pest control, so everybody wins.

I’m just a guy with nearly an acre of dirt, a nice little mid-century ranch house and a near-perfect climate. But in my mind I’m a landscaper survivalist craftsman chef naturalist with a barbeque the size of a VW and my own cable TV show. I like to write about the stuff I build, grow and see here at Sage's Acre.
