Every portion of Thursday’s meal will get a thorough sniffing

Our food inspectors checking our freshly harvested sweet potatoes

Just because we grow our own 100% organic sweet potatoes doesn’t mean they bypass inspection. A multi-sensory (see, sniff, lick) examination is very important when these are going into something as important as our Thanksgiving meal.

We are fortunate to have inspectors on site in the form of Dachshunds who give everything we dig out of the garden a thorough examination.

Both of these potatoes were determined not to be cheese, rawhide snacks, or anything wrapped in bacon, so we were allowed to keep them. Whew, Thanksgiving is safe!

I’m just a guy with nearly an acre of dirt, a nice little mid-century ranch house and a near-perfect climate. But in my mind I’m a landscaper survivalist craftsman chef naturalist with a barbeque the size of a VW and my own cable TV show. I like to write about the stuff I build, grow and see here at Sage's Acre.
